Be In The Best Condition This Sports Season

Compete at a high level this summer by being in your best shape! It is important to keep your fitness up and build muscle to be in peak physical condition. Connetquot Chiropractic has some useful tips for you to stay in shape and avoid injuries while playing sports this summer. 

    

Below are a few helpful tips to keep you ahead of your competition before the season even starts:


  • Hydrate - Your body depends on water for many different things. Water maintains your body temperature, removes waste, and lubricates your joints. It is recommended that you should drink six to eight, eight-ounce glasses of water every day. If you are an athlete it is recommended you follow this formula for the correct amount of water intake

  • For a high-intensity workout multiply your weight by 1.0 to see how many fluid ounces you should be drinking. 

  • For a low-intensity workout, multiply your weight by .5 to see how many fluid ounces you should be drinking. To change fluid ounces to liters, multiply your fluid ounce number by .03.

  • Stretch - Stretching regularly will allow you to get the most out of your workouts. Stretching might only take 10 to 15 minutes, but your body will get stronger, healthier and more flexible to allow you to keep your advantage on the field. Proper stretches prevent injuries which allows you to train longer for your sports season.  

  • Time your workout - The summer heat can discourage athletes from working out in the summer. It's important to get your workout done early in the morning before the heat becomes a factor. Set your alarm earlier and finish your workout before your competition is even awake. The hottest time of the day is around 3 PM so try to avoid a work out in that timeframe.

  • Work out with a partner - Find a buddy to keep you motivated for a workout. It is important to stay motivated during the summer months when you may be less likely to work out, and a partner is a great motivation boost. Make friendly competition with your work out partner to encourage good fitness. An easy way to do this is start counting your steps and try to outstep your partner every day.
